We are picked up from our digs at 6am and are delivered to Gatwick airport which is full of Xmas cheer and half the population of the UK. We are whisked away to Oslo which is in the grip of winter. After disembarking at oslo central train station we wander around aimlessly and eventually find our hotel-very post-industrial.
We spend the afternoon wandering the mean streets of Oslo including walking up the roof of the Opera house
and then visiting a Christmas market and stocking up on extra cold weather gear.
Then it was off to the Maaemo restaurant-hard to find but they actually have a staff member who patrols the environs looking for lost patrons. The meal consisted of a mere 18 courses and was quite theatrical-you gotta love powdered dry reindeer heart.
